Cafe Society: Napa, San Francisco

Café Society’s Joan Osburn has forged a special relationship with European Artisans spanning over 20 years. Joan works hand-in-hand with several artists & artisans and is constantly developing new relationships on each trip abroad.

Her introduction to Parisian artisans began with her friendship with ‘Madame Gatti’, whose factory hand makes rattan café furniture. This special relationship has extended to the subsequent heirs to the factory, Herve and Benoit Maugrion. Café Society is the exclusive representative of Gatti furniture on the West Coast and is able to have hand-crafted chairs made to client specifications – designing signature chairs for restaurants. The Gatti relationship has also led to relationships with other artisans and individual artists specializing in everything from ceramics to one-of-a-kind frames.

Café Society finds unique vintage European drawings, lithographis, etchings and posters, then commissions artisans in Paris to create frames relating to the images. These complete works of art are among the most interesting pieces gracing the walls of the Café Society store and showroom.
